Great bar! I love the fact that it is non-smoking. The nicest people own and run this place, the first time I went in there the owners shook my hand and always do the same pretty much every time I come in there. Great place to come and watch a soccer match early on Saturday mornings. Most of the patrons in here are down to earth and I almost always get in a good conversation with somebody. Awesome beer selection, and good nightly specials. Great outdoor patio. The place is small and can get crowded on the weekends, but always a good time. Overall this is my favorite bar in St. Louis.

Amsterdam Tavern is THE place to watch soccer in St. Louis. As a soccer aficionado, I've been to just about every pub in the area that claims to love the beautiful game. Amsterdam Tavern is only place that does it right. I go there for all the big matches- English Premier League, Champions League, World Cup- you name it. The beer selection is incredible and since there's no kitchen, they let you bring in chow from the outside.

Visiting from out of town, my girlfriend and I stopped here to catch some premier league games before our day out...place is awesome, great local beer as well as many favorites. Bartender was super chill and friendly, gave us some tips about good spots in the city for our trip. Place is decked out in club and international scarves, as well as a few signed US player club jerseys. AWESOME! Definitely going back whenever we return!

Tricia and I are huge fans of The Beautiful Game, but it's rather odd that I hadn't been to the Amsterdam in ages, and she'd never been until recently. A friend visiting town changed that, and I'm sure the fellas will be seeing our faces more often. A good list of ales on tap, plenty of bottles, and anyone who serves Magner's is a pal of mine. Pull up a chair, settle your scarf 'round your neck, and roar with the crowd. The Amsterdam is a good time, my friends.

We were excited to try this neighborhood place when we found out it was a non-smoking bar. We really liked the beer selection and the atmosphere with one exception: the LOUD jukebox. The music playing was even good music it's just it was too loud to have comfortable conversations with a friend or friends. This was a unanimous opinion among all of my friends that had met up there for drinks and we're not old fogies if you're wondering that. If they could even turn it down a notch or two we would become very regular customers. If not, they need to change the name of the joint to CLUB Amsterdam. We will try the place a few more times and hope it's more like a TAVERN than a club next time.

This is a great bar. Right by Tin Can on Morganford, this little joint manages to be as relaxed as the diviest Irish Pub, but with bright and airy decor. 4 large screens are usually playing some sort of soccer or rugby, and I have it on good authority that they will open up early for those games that occur at strange hours (like 7 AM). Only downside was that it was a little slow when I went, and they were out of PBR that night but the bartender was awesome so it was fine. I also thought that the space might be a little hard to bring a large group to since it's so small.

Best place to watch soccer! Small narrow inner bar area with larger outdoor patios. The inside fills up quickly so get there early before matches. They don't serve food but you can go next door to the Dam and order food. The wait staff will bring it over to you.

We're part of a group called American Outlaws, which has over 180 chapters all over the country. We decided to stop here because this is AO St. Louis' bar. When you walk in, there's ALL sorts of soccer memorabilia ALL over the place, which I LOVE! The bar has old jerseys from USA national team players like Dempsey, Beasley, etc. There are scarves and flags above - VERY cool! At first when you walk in, you think this is a very small bar, but step out into the patio, and there's lots of space! There's a setup for an outside bar as well. We were also pleased to see the local chapter's banner hung on the patio. I only gave three stars because of the hard cider selection. I know, it's not a common drink, but there are quite a number of bars who will have at least 4 different kinds. This bar only had two, Magner's (yuck) or a local brew. I tried the local brew, and I didn't like it. It had a funny aftertaste. Next time, I'll have to try something different!

This is the place to watch soccer. We headed there to watch the US Womens soccer game. We arrived an hour and a half before game time and were able to grab the last table inside. But they have a huge, covered beergarden out back, and there was plenty of room there even after the game started. The bar area can get pretty packed but the bartenders are keen about spotting you if you are empty. A couple of negatives, the beer was a little warm... I assume the reach-in cooler was having a tough time keeping up with the large crowd. We decided that getting buckets of beer worked better since that beer was kept on ice at the table. The only other thing I didn't like is that the cocktails come in cheap plastic picnic cups. ...but don't let these negatives dissuade you. The fun crowd and atmosphere easily makes up for it.

Awesome place to watch soccer or to hang out and enjoy a beer if around Tower Grove. The place to be to watch Premier League or the USMNT. Large outdoor patio in back. You can order food next door and they will deliver it to you inside the bar. Large crowds gather early on Saturday and Sunday mornings so definitely a place to check out if you want to meet up with other soccer fans.

Only found because the people at The Dam told us to go sit next door at The Amsterdam. Pleased to find a great Non-Smoking soccer bar. Our burgers from The Dam were delivered to us here. We ordered fountain sodas and were given free refills. Will return, looks like a great place to cheer on Barcelona and Real Madrid.

This is a combo review because the Tavern and the Dam have a nice sim biotic relationship going. Hit the Dam first and order up some tasty food then grab a table and a pint at Amsterdam while you wait for your food to be delivered. Both places have friendly service. Amsterdam has a good combination of local and worldwide craft beer offerings on tap. Plenty of TV screens for sports, a blues game was on that night. And if your lucky you'll get colorful commentary like we did from the next table. Most fun I remember having watching a blues game on TV! They also commentated on our food when it came. We got the fish & chips which surprised them (and us) at the size of the fish. It was haddock with a nice breading and a side of garlic caper tartar sauce, yum! Also got the magic mushroom burger with Swiss & Gouda cheeses. It was thoughtfully wrapped in a wax paper sleeve to reduce the messiness but still required a good hand washing after. Some food is worth getting dirty for! I wasn't a big fan of the Belgian fries (chips) but that's personal preference to a thinner cut fry. We will be back for more fish and sometime I'll be brave enough to try the Louie, deep fried bacon wrapped hot dog!

I like reading that this is the best soccer bar in the area. It really is true. However, that doesn't do it justice. Amsterdam is just the best bar in the area period. From the friendly and attentive staff to the phenomenal atmosphere I can't say I've had this much fun anywhere else. I've had no problem going there by myself and ending up leaving having made some great new friends. I can't recommend this place any higher.

Stopped in for a soccer game with my brother. Lots of soccer memorabilia on the walls, a few TV's make it easy to find a seat to watch the game. Very cool that a crowd can be found in the morning. If your a big soccer fan, this place is probably more like home than any place you can imagine. It did remind me of some of the truly local pubs in England. Service was a bit surly and indifferent. Prices were reasonable. I probably won't be back.

Great place to enjoy a pint. They have several craft beers available on tap, and I really enjoy drinking a pint while eating food from The Dam, located next door. Sports fans can also enjoy watching soccer games, as there are numerous TVs. They recently renovated the patio area, which has been popping since the World Cup has been going on. Not your typical bar, but definitely worth checking out if you enjoy a tasty craft beer, especially from local brewing companies.

Great nonsmoking soccer bar. They offer a good beer selection which goes well with the food you can order next door at The Dam. If you're not a beer drinker, they're a sports bar and will mix you up a simple bar drink too. The ambiance is definitely soccer. This is the place to be seen watching a World Cup or any soccer game for that matter. Our bartender Matt, was friendly and attentive. He told us about the patio expansion which is going to be great for this coming spring and summer. The Amsterdam has always been a great little bar and now with The Dam next door, it just got better. I think this will rank up there on my Neighborhood Bar list. It's brand new, yes, but a far, far, far cry from what it used to be as Ron's Mighty Pub, which wasn't really Mighty at all, or very pub-like. Amsterdam Tavern, located at the up and coming Morganford neighborhood sets an example for the entire St. Louis Metro area that non- smoking establishments are not only smoke free, but have the capacity to be "cool." This place lives by the KISS method: Keep It Simple, Stupid. And they do it well. It's a local watering hole, with a beautiful, polished feel to it, with a very decent selection of beer. I eyed some Red Stripe there, next to a couple of Linenkeugels. Awesome start to a beautiful friendship. I found out that the bartender that served me was a co-owner, and couldn't wait to let loose his plans for his bar, which will soon include a simple, but tasty-sounding bar menu that will stick to an ideal of simplicity- I hate it when some bars try to make an extra buck by passing themselves off as true restaurants. KISS. I also didn't know that there was a habitable (for bar patrons) back patio, which was a great place to start off my weekend, enjoying a Stella, during the first few days of Fall. It was chilly that night, but was supplemented with a nifty fire pit that resembled a jet engine in its intensity. It quickly died down, which I was thankful for, since the pit itself rested on a plywood board, on top of wood chips. Imagine the inferno! Regardless, it was a good thing. My service was superb (which translates to "I got my drinks QUICKLY") and there was always someone around that provided great conversation around the fire pit. By the way, the Juke choices by the crowd hanging around made me feel at home. Again, this place wins my heart as my New Neighborhood Bar.

Everything about this place is outstanding for a hole in the wall pub. You don't need to be a soccer/football fan to enjoy the great specials and drink prices they have. The non-domestic beer variety Is superb and they are increasingly getting more products from local microbreweries. The bartenders are friendly, bathrooms clean, and the beer garden in the back is a nice place to relax and watch a local sports game.

This bar has excellent beer choices. Not just AB crap. Come to think of it, I am not sure if they even have AB products which is why I probably like their beer choices so much. My only complaint is the small space. I do enjoy the outside patio when the weather allows. The staff is not the most attentive in the world as it is difficult to catch someone's eye no matter how good you look as the bar is usually packed about three deep.

Great place, friendly atmosphere. It's a great & unique setup in that it's made for soccer. Not a lot of inside space, but there is a patio outside with a fire pit and TVs. I can only imagine watching a World Cup match here. They open early on weekends, so you'll be able to catch your favorite English Premier League match. Great touch for St. Louis!

I really don't like soccer. I will watch it if it is on, but I won't really pay attention to it. That said, I always love coming to Amsterdam Tavern to knock back a few pints. They have awesome selection of beers from local breweries and from around the country. The prices won't break your bank either. I like the fact that the bartenders are straight-up bartenders and won't try to impress you with "mixologist" propaganda. Walk up to the bar, order a beer, shot or mixed drink, and then sit back and chat with your friends until last call. Amsterdam Tavern is as simple as that.

Soccer fan? Tired of other sports bars that only show soccer games once every 4 years during the World Cup? Well Amsterdam is your place! This is one of few bars in STL that caters to the knowledgeable soccer fan & airs a good selection of foreign league games.... but you can also get your MLS & US National team fix here too. Very simple bar, good beer selection, friendly staff & very laid back clientele. They also have a wicked patio that's surprisingly large given the size of the bar itself. If you're on Yelp looking for "soccer bars" in STL then Amsterdam should top your list.

It was my first time there two weeks ago. It was a friends birthday, he had the back space rented out. It was super nice. The picnic tables, with tents for cover, not sure the wood-chips are the best choice for a bar, seems like they could make another choice. The inside it covered with football (or soccer) jerseys. The bartenders were friendly and made decent drinks. However we were looking to do a shot and the bartender didn't know how to make a few of the suggestions we had for him. But we ended up with a shot that is in memory of someone who either use to work or frequent the bar often. It was decent! Overall great selection, nice people and will visit again!

This is my favorite bar in my neighborhood. Great place to watch sports especially soccer. Always a good variety of beers on tap with plenty super local brews. The outdoor scene is really cool in the summertime and all the bartenders are super friendly. Plus it's next door to The Dam. You really can't lose.

I always have fun when I go to Amsterdam, whether to watch a game or just drink a good local beer. The bartenders have always been very friendly. The addition of The Dam next door now makes it good location for dinner too. I'd say the only downside is the small bar area, which can sometimes be difficult to find a seat. I haven't had a chance to check out the patio though.

I don't even know where to begin. We got seats at the bar and sat down and I ordered a Patron Margarita. I was just waiting for him to say, we don't have patron, but much to my horror he said we don't have sweet and sour and we don't really do fancy drinks here. Calling Jon Taffer stat! Ask him what the number one selling drinks among females is and hes going to tell you it's a margarita, but hey, what the hell do I know? So I opted for a Jack and coke. The best part of this was he makes my drink, hasn't gotten my hubby his beer yet and he looks at me and says "5 dollars'. Um, do you see I am here with my date/husband? Was I supposed to pull out my wad of ones and peel them off to pay right there before you can start my husbands Guinness? Maybe I really just am too fancy. Anyways, there was not a game on that I noticed because I was mystified by the really white guys at the bar singing along with the blaring jay-Z and it was N word this and N word that like it was also Karaoke time or something. Anyways, I loathe the place, never again.

Something you rarely hear Aimee say: "I really feel like going to drink beer and watch a soccer game." Things Aimee does say, which therefore makes the above statement true: "I reeeeally want to go to the Amsterdam Tavern." I'll stop referring myself in third person now but really, this is a great little bar. It's small, personable, and obviously has a ton of TVs that are usually showing a soccer game which I can appreciate every once in a while. The inside is non-smoking (thank you), the beer lineup is pretty extensive with a ton of local options (including The Civil Life), and the patio is giant. Part of it is covered, too, so you can still stay out there if the weather is bad. Come by after work to relax somewhere low-key or make it a stop on the weekend. Either way, you'll have a great time while drinking some great beer (or something else if that's not your thing.)

The Amsterdam Tavern is THE place to go to watch football (soccer) in St. Louis. As a proud Englishman it will always be football to me, no matter how long I live here!! But I digress! The place is decked out with memorabilia as a shrine to the beautiful game - scarves, flags, jerseys and plenty of TVs so you can watch from just about any location in the bar. It's not a big place so on big game days expect there to be standing room only. This just adds to the atmosphere as a diverse group of fans, proudly showing off their allegence, congregate to enjoy a wide selection of games from the EPL, MLS, La Liga, Serie A, Champions League, World Cup, you name it! The Amsterdam has a great selection of reasonably priced draft and bottled beers, recently adding several brews from the Civil Life, and the staff are great. There's also a nice-sized outdoor patio which has several TVs so you won't miss a minute if you head outside. Absolutely love this place and can't wait for the EPL season to start again, just a few more days, just a few more days... C'mon you Spurs!!

Oh how I love The Amsterdam Tavern!! Here is a bar that reminds me of everything I love about bars: Beer, Sports, Patio Seating! On a perfectly gorgeous day (like yesterday), when you have the Gold Cup Finals with USA playing, when you can drink from their various taps OR grab a bucket of PBRs, when everyone is singing and clapping and chanting, you cannot get ANY better than The Amsterdam!!! Looking forward to The Dam opening up next door to make the food/beer combo complete and my hubby and I may never leave again! *BONUS* When there isn't an epic soccer match on, you can bring your puppy dog to the patio! All the qualities of the large football/soccer pubs with the ambiance of a local. I happened to be in St. Louis on business at the time of a massive match. I checked online and with some locals and decided to take a chance on the Amsterdam. Upon walking in, I was an instant convert. The list of beers - from their own house brew to any number of domestic and imported brands - made it necessary to take a minute before making a selection, and the memorabilia covered every square inch of wall space. TVs in every direction, and a space that packed full right before kickoff completed the scene. I've had the pleasure of visiting some great soccer bars in Boston, NYC, and even Columbus, but to date The Amsterdam Tavern is as good as it gets.

On my first visit through the Morganford row of taverns, we decided to stop in here before heading back to our neighborhood for the remainder of the evening. Not regretting our stop at all. I may be biased in that I am a huge fan of the sport of rugby and this is one of the very FEW bars that you can actually go and watch it at any time that they are open. Loved the fact that they were trying to get rid of Sierra Nevada that had been sitting around for awhile. $1.75 was a price I couldn't resist no matter if it were old or not. Huge back patio with tons of park benches. Inside is darker and filled with old soccer memorabilia lining all of the walls. Most importantly, the staff was super friendly here. No pretentious bs attitude from any of them. Just genuinely good dudes. Happy we stopped in and have decided we will definitely make more trips.

First off, they have a great beer selection with a lot on tap, including more than a few local selections. I was in from out of town on a day of World Cup qualifiers and they had multiple games on different TVs so that it was easy to stay with all the action. What really put it over for me was the friendly, helpful bartender! In addition to all the soccer, this also happened to be the 2nd day of March Madness and as long as there weren't too many different soccer games (and the US wasn't playing), he not only left a TV on basketball, but was happy to flip channels to stay with the most exciting games when he could spare a moment from serving drinks. At the time of my visit they didn't serve food, so the bartender told me about several options within walking distance and let me bring my food in so I could keep watching the games.

I've been to Amsterdam Tavern a few tines now. This is a great cozy, neighborhood bar. The beer list is good. 5-6 drafts and a nice selection of bottles. I come back for the Franzikaner Hefe. Not to mention the football (soccer.) I had the chance to catch a few World Cup games here. I also like to catch the early Saturday and Sunday Serie A and Bundesliga matches. The bartenders are always friendly and the crowd is generally welcoming. The patio is a plus. Overall, great neighborhood bar. I am making it a point to visit more often, especially now that I live in the area.

The Amsterdam is your friendly neighborhood soccer (futball/calcio) bar that is a ton of fun! It's the best place to watch any matches or just hang out in the beer garden. They have tons of outdoor seating and sometimes have live music or a DJ and they're all really nice guys who work there. The prices are reasonable, too. Plus, it's always nice to go into a bar and have an intelligent conversation with a human who doesn't say "like" every other word. Bottom line: awesome bar that awesome people go to - check it out.

My favorite little bar to watch Soccer Matches. I look forward to living here during World Cup;) The fact that this is non-smoking is a definate plus for me. It is a small bar though so don't expect to bring a large group. The bartenders are quick and the owner here is very awesome. One of the friendliest bars around.

As a person who is not from St. Louis I've noticed that people here, in general, seem to revel in bars that are packed asshole to elbow. I don't get it, when I go out I like a little breathing, moving and thinking room. If you're like me and don't enjoy feeling like a sardine, I would say stay away from the Amsterdam. However, there really is no comparison, in terms of a bar that caters towards soccer, in all of St. Louis. The drinks, prices and selection are fine, although I could really care less as I'm only there to watch the games and chat with other regulars who are also huge soccer fans. It's that kind of place, the center of St. Louis soccer aficionado culture. One tip I will give people is if you want to watch a big game i.e. any US game or huge derby game get there hours before the game if you want to claim a spot and bring enough people to keep the spot when someone gets up to get drinks or use the restroom.

I'm liking this small, tidy, nonsmoking Tower Grove South neighborhood gem more and more each time I go. Located on Morgan Ford (just south of Arsenal), this unpretentious soccer bar features a beer garden, a full bar that includes a large variety of draft and bottled beer, most of the big soccer matches on TV, and occasional live entertainment. The crowd is primarily mid-twenties/male, but I was happy to see that they had a variety of genders and ages comfortably interacting at the bar and everyone feels welcome. I can't stress how nice it is to be able to go out for the night and wake up in the morning without a "smoke hangover." That said, smokers don't fret... you are welcome to partake in the beer garden.

Fun little dive bar that my Rugby friends like to come too. Nice outside patio that allows smoking. The bartenders are awesome and they have a lot of different beers to choose from. I really like the interior of the place, lots of neat stuff on the walls to peruse if you're bored or waiting for a game to start back up. Had a great time on the Pub crawl. They sell 16oz PBRs here also so I can bring out my inner Hipster if I really want to.

This place is a great soccer bar, period. Good selection of beers (plus they have Guiness on tap!!!) and prices are pretty reasonable. I think they make a flat bread pizza which is the only food that they have but I have never had it and know nothing about it. For soccer fans however, this place is a must. they have 2 tvs in the bar area showing games and then a covered area outside with 3 more tvs showing tons of soccer matches. I went here for some of the Gold Cup and the atmosphere is awesome. This place was full of fans and not just people randomly watching games. The energy was awesome, and I would highly recommend this place to any soccer fan in St. Louis who wants to watch some games with real fans.

Love this place, Great beer selection at a reasonable price. The place is smoke free and usually has either local sports or soccer on the TV. The back patio is also very nice. In the winter they sometimes have a fire going outside. When the weather is better it is a nice place to play a game of washers or 2.
